A few weeks ago I was given some beautiful Maxwell and Williams bone china cup and saucers, until today I haven't had a chance to make good use of them. I have recently started a veggie patch and herb garden, and this afternoon i went outside and couldn't resist picking a few leaves from my Mint plant, they smelled divine and the desire to use them straight away got me thinking about tea.... I love tea, i grew up drinking it with milk and sugar, my grandma first started giving it to me off a saucer when I was about six months old (those were the days when you could feed your grandchild anything without fear of judgment!) Since switching to a plant based diet i haven't enjoyed tea as much, it just isn't quite as soothing when you drink it black, and using an alternative milk hasn't filled the void for me either. So tonight while cooking dinner and thinking about how to start my blog I decided to experiment with fresh mint as a tea.
i heated the water to 80 degrees Celsius and poured the water over the bruised and torn leaves into my tea pot, I also added a wedge of lemon and let it steep for approximately ten or fifteen minutes.
Let me be honest it was basically warm lemon water with a hint of mint, i did enjoy it though, it was a great alternative to boring water... however i intend to experiment more and improve the flavor..... at least i got to use my tea cup..... such a pretty teacup!
any tips for home made herbal teas? have you ever successfully made your own tea? I wonder if drying it makes it stronger? comment below if you have any answers.
